Survey: Availability of employee training
Published:  December 2007

Most business leaders say the availability of employee training within their organization is high, based on a recent survey.

More than half (53 percent) of senior executives and managers say the availability of employee training is high, with 18 percent saying it is extremely high and 35 percent saying it is somewhat high, according to the worldwide survey of 167 senior executives and managers.

More than a third (39 percent) of executives and managers expect funding for employee training to increase over the next year, while 53 percent say it will stay the same.

Seven percent say it will increase significantly and 32 percent say it will increase somewhat.

"It's a good sign that organizations are still committed to providing training, which can keep a work force totally up to date," said Chuck Martin, CEO of NFI Research of Madbury. "The biggest problem is finding time," said one survey respondent. "The work doesn't stop while we are away training." When comparing organization size, more executives at small and medium organizations expect an increase in funding than do those at large companies.

Forty-one percent of business leaders at small businesses and 44 percent at medium businesses expect funding for employee training to increase. Twenty-one percent at large organizations anticipate an increase in funding.

NFI Research surveys 2,000 senior executives and managers globally every two weeks.
