Frances A. Quinn of Seacoast Asset Management is pleased to announce her certification as a Chartered Financial Consultant. In addition to the ChFC designation, Ms. Quinn, who serves as the firm's Director of Financial Planning, is Associate Professor of Finance at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., where she has been a member of the faculty for over 20 years. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Northeastern University, an MBA with a Finance concentration from Bentley College, and also attained her certification in Advanced Managerial Studies from Babson College.

Professor Quinn has co-authored and published many financial papers in refereed journals. Her most recent paper, presented at the Southern Finance Association's annual conference, was entitled "Sectoral Portfolio Exposure and Geopolitical Risks: A 911 Event", and was part of the published proceedings. She has also made presentations on Personal Finance at the prestigious Financial Education Association.

A Certified Financial Planner since 2001, Ms. Quinn specializes in providing comprehensive, fee-based financial planning, and is a member of the Financial Planning Association, the Academy of Financial Services, the Financial Executives Institute and the National Association of Personal Financial Planners.

The Citi Foundation has awarded $5,000 to Families First Health and Support Center to be used for dental care for children. The foundation made the donation on behalf of the Portsmouth branch office of Citigroup/Smith Barney. John Habig, senior vice president for Investments in the Portsmouth office, had invited Families First to apply for the grant.

Families First's Dental Center gives children and adults access to ongoing, affordable preventive care, restorative treatment, and emergency care, as well as oral health education. About 1,200 people, including about 400 children and teens, are expected to use the center this year. Children are eligible to use the Dental Center if they are clients of Families First or another agency located at the Community Campus, or if they live in Portsmouth or Newington and have Medicaid coverage. Adults must be Families First Health Center patients.

Families First provides affordable and high-quality primary, prenatal and oral health care; parenting classes and support groups; one-on-one family support; and mobile health care for people who are homeless. The board of directors of the Northeast Utilities (NU) Foundation has announced the election of NU Vice President and Secretary Kerry J. Kuhlman as the foundation's new president and executive director.

As president, Kuhlman will oversee a foundation invigorated by a $25 million endowment from NU a new strategy of targeted, substantial investments collaboratively developed to effectively address key community challenges a refreshed focus on the regional economy, education and environmental leadership and stewardship. Since the January announcement of its endowment, the Foundation's community investments have been coordinated with those of NU's operating companies, including Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH). During this period, the foundation has launched a multi-state "Listening Tour" to engage community leaders to identify and address local, state and regional challenges within its areas of focus. Thus far in 2007, the Foundation has distributed $800,000 in grants and it has completed a five-year, $1 million grant to the Connecticut Science Center.

Jewett Construction recently completed a small project for the National Passport Center at Pease. The work included procuring some temporary office and storage space as well as aiding in the coordination of the site work, carpentry and ADA tasks to make a complete project.

The National Passport Center is located in the heart of the Pease Tradeport Center. In 1993, Jewett renovated the former Air Force Base Commissary to house the Passport Center, earning them the U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator's Award for Excellence.

Jewett Construction also recently completed a new branch facility for Northeast Credit Union. The one-story, 2,800 square foot facility marks the third ground-up facility Jewett constructed for Northeast Credit Union, and the fifth project in a long history of additions and renovations for the credit union's many facilities. The Lee branch offers a drive-up ATM and four drive-up teller lanes.

The design was provided by Bruce Ronayne Hamilton of New Ipswich, and key subcontractors such as JNS Groundworks of Auburn; American Concrete of Kingston, Complete Masonry of Amherst, Deschenes Acoustics of Francistown, and Interstate Electric of Bedford all contributed to the project's success.

Lawyer Ken Bouchard has been honored by Law & Politics, the publisher of Super Lawyers. Bouchard had previously been honored as one of the top 100 lawyers in New Hampshire by another publication. A maximum of 5 percent of the lawyers in any state can be classified as "Super Lawyers." The selection is based on surveys of New Hampshire lawyers and research done by Law & Politics. Bouchard is the senior partner in the law firm of Bouchard, Kleinman & Wright with offices in Hampton and Manchester. The firm does almost any kind of civil litigation and estate planning.

Bouchard is a graduate of Tufts University with a double major in physics and math. He received his masters in engineering and applied science at Yale. He went on to get his law degree from Boston College, and has always practiced in New Hampshire, although he is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the U.S. Supreme Court. He is married with four children and lives in Madury.

The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A. recently hosted a reception for the firm's corporate clients at which George Bald, head of New Hampshire's Department of Resources and Economic Development spoke about the state of New Hampshire's economy.

Jessica Ahlquist, owner of Water Stone Hair Studio & Spa at 800 Islington St. in Portsmouth, has announced the addition of Marcy E. Morgan. Marcy is a licensed medical esthetician and certified technician and will be offering facials, waxing, body treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Ken Wilman, president of Profile Bank, has announced that Kevin Miller has joined Profile as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
