SUE SUTER, executive director of UNITED WAY OF THE GREATER SEACOAST (UWGS), recently presented a Spirit of Giving Award to GOSS INTERNATIONAL, a unique worldwide printing equipment supplier with 1,000 employees at locations in Dover and Durham. The Spirit of Giving Award recognizes outstanding innovation, executive support, and success from companies participating in United Way of the Greater Seacoast's Fall 2006 fund-raising campaign.
UWGS chose Goss International as an award recipient for the strong commitment to United Way and the community shown by Chief Eexecutive Officer Bob Brown and employees companywide. Suter also recognized KAREN KIMBALL, the Goss employee responsible for managing the company's successful fund-raising efforts. During the 2006 campaign, Goss raised 50 percent more than the previous year totaling an almost $35,000 contribution for UWGS.
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK, a program of the NEW HAMPSHIRE CATHOLIC CHARITIES, recently accepted an $8,500 donation from WAL-MART STORES. The donation was announced in a check-presentation ceremony at the Manchester Wal-Mart Store.
The New Hampshire Food Bank, the state's only food bank, distributes more than 4 million pounds of donated, surplus food to more than 350 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, senior citizen homes and substance abuse treatment centers. The Food Bank has experienced an increase demand for services of more than 40 percent in the last year while experiencing significant inventory shortages. Earlier this year, Manchester MAYOR FRANK GUINTA asked all New Hampshire residents and businesses to remember those less fortunate and generously donate to the New Hampshire Food Bank.
