Acquisitions
SEA VIEW TECHNOLOGIES of Exeter and GRANITE COAST TECHNOLOGIES of Portsmouth have joined forces. With the acquisition, Granite Coast Technologies will become a subsidiary of Sea View Technologies. However, both companies will continue to operate with the same personnel in place. DREW PAGE will remain the president and CEO of Granite Coast and TOM CONNEEN will continue as COO, managing its operations. In the next few months, Granite Coast and Sea View will consolidate their operations into Sea View’s 64,000-square-foot facility in Exeter.

COMMUNICATIONS, a Portsmouth public relations, marketing, and graphic design agency, announced that Exeterbased SEACOAST HOSPICE has chosen the firm to communicate its message to the medical community and general public. Calypso will help the organization meet one of its major organizational goals: increase the number of patient referrals and partner with physicians earlier in the referral processat the earliest indication of terminal illness. Calypso account services director, KELLY WHALEN, will direct agency efforts for Seacoast Hospice.
PCG (Portsmouth Computer Group) has signed a partnership agreement with N-ABLE TECHNOLOGIES, the leading provider of management software for outsourced information technology and "managed services," helping clients reduce downtime while optimizing, managing and securing their valuable information networks. PCG now provides clients daily, weekly and monthly reports to review their computer networks' performance, vulnerabilities and threats.
CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE of Kennebunk, Maine, has been awarded a contract by the Town of Kennebunk to perform a POLICE AND COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT REVIEW. The project includes an in-depth assessment of the policies, procedures and staffing levels of the two public safety departments and to make recommendations for enhancements. This project is slated to be completed by late May.
RUSSOUND of Newmarket, a multi-room audio-video manufacturer, announced an enhanced version of its PC POWER TOOL SOFTWARE designed to offer installers fast and easy programming of Smart Tuners within an RNET multiroom audio system. The new PC Power Tool ST simplifies the set up of AM/FM, XM and Sirius radio tuner preset banks, creating custom bank and preset names, and configuring ST2 series Smart Tuners.

Winners of the EXETER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2006 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARDS are Glimmerglass Consulting Group for business service; Gemini Electric Inc. for construction; Seacoast School of Technology for education; Churchill’s for retail; and Exeter Copy & More for technology. A sixth award this year, dubbed the award for economic vitality, was presented to ELLIOT BERKOWITZ and NANCY PHILLIPS for their business, Pairpoint Group, and their work restoring the buildings at 139 to 155 Water St., in downtown Exeter.
A McIntosh College graduate and student were recognized at an annual NORTHEAST REGIONAL CHEF’S competition in Dover. BEN HASTY and SAM DUNKEL were awarded bronze medals for a three-course dinner prepared for judges. Hasty cooks for The Dunaway Resturant at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth.
Three local entrepreneurs were recognized at the annual NEW HAMPSHIRE SMALL BUSINESS WEEK 2006 AWARDS in Concord. ROGER GOLDENBERG of Portsmouth was named the Home-Based Business Champion of the Year. Goldenberg is an active member of Art-Speak and the Portsmouth Cultural Commission. JAMES D HELM JR. of Stratham was named the SCORE Counselor of the Year. Helm is the New Hampshire district director for SCORE. DR. WILLIAM R OSGOOD was named the Special District Champion of the Year. Osgood is the author of 29 business management books and a creator of the NH Small Business Development Center.
Demo Days
Beginning April 29, the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce Kittery Welcome Center will begin hosting DEMO DAYS. All business owners, chamber members and non-members are invited to participate. Every Saturday between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. the chamber will be providing space inside the Welcome Center in the Maine Outlet Mall for businesses to set up a display. Name Change
LEAD SOURCE, a provider of lead, asbestos and mold abatement, to better serve its clients and represent the type of services they provide, is changing its company name to ENVIROVANTAGE. The name change coincides with a move to a larger facility in Epping. Their Web site is www.envirovantage.com.
New Ownership
ATTREZZI - Fine Kitchen Accessories of Portsmouth is under new ownership. JENNIFER GRAY has handed the reins to Kennebunkport area retailer CORRADINA ARANGIO. Gray will remain active as a business and marketing consultant at Attrezzi.
Tourism
The N.H. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION has changed its policy regarding brochure distribution at 17 welcome centers throughout the state. Up until this summer the Division of Travel and Tourism Development, excluded types of businesses, such as lodging and restaurants, from displaying their information for travelers. Now any New Hampshire related business may seek distribution in the centers. Three vendors have been granted this official status to service the centers: CTM Brochure Display Inc., Best Read Guides, and White Mountain Attractions Association. Businesses wishing to have one of the three to service their brochure in the welcome centers can download an application at www.resourcenh.org.

NETTA HART of COASTAL ACUPUNCTURE AND WELLNESS in Greenland will be one of the first acupuncturists in the region offering microcurrent facial rejuvenation. The procedure, featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, involves low level electrical stimulation to the face and neck area. This produces tighter skin and reduces wrinkles. Hart is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture and the University of New Hampshire. She specializes in women's issues and pain syndromes. Hart is a resident of Greenland.
WARM SPIRIT, a unique direct-sales company that supplies herbal beauty products through a nationwide network of more than 20,000 consultants, announced record-breaking revenues for 2005. Boosted by end-of-year sales, the company recorded income for 2005 that reached nearly $15 million, said Warm Spirit President, CEO and co-founder NADINE THOMPSON. "Last year was a phenomenal period of growth and greatness," said Thompson. "At the beginning of 2005 we set a year-end goal to reach monthly sales totals of $1 million. We accomplished that goal in March—just three months!"

DR. LAWRENCE GRAY of PORTSMOUTH REGIONAL HOSPITAL was published in The Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Dr. Gray's article, titled Reevaluating Liposuction Breast Reduction, appeared in the February issue and discusses the refinements and improvements for the procedure.
THE VETERINARY EMERGENCY & SPECIALTY HOSPITAL is now open in BRENTWOOD for emergency care of domestic and exotic pets. The new hospital is equipped with on-site MRI, digital radiography, and ultrasound services. Owners DR. TIM LAMPMAN and DR. SELVI LAMPMAN designed the hospital for on-site animal treatment for fracture repairs, soft tissue surgeries, and elective orthopedic procedures. Future plans for the facility include the hiring of a veterinary neurologist and the addition of a ophthalmologist this summer.

PixelMEDIA, Inc. announces that Cbeyond has extended its partnership with the company for the fifth consecutive year. Cbeyond has worked with PixelMedia since 2001. Recent projects between the two include an upcoming sales and prospect referral program. PixelMEDIA designed the program to generate leads from Cbeyond's partners and customers. PixelMEDIA is a full service Internet firm located in Portsmouth. Cbeyond is an Atlanta-based managed service and a Voice over IP provider.
O'BRIEN GRASSO RE Software, a Seabrook-based soft-ware company, plans to release a new property management software package. The product, titled Property Master, is aimed at landlords and real estate investors. Features include organization of information regarding properties, tenants, units and expenses. BRENDAN O'BRIEN, the founder of the company, came up with the idea after difficulties managing his own property investments. This is the company's first product release since it was founded a year and a half ago.
LONZA, a biopharmaceutical company, has approved a new expansion plan for its manufacturing facility at the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth. The company will expand its facility for the second time by 250,000 additional square feet. Lonza hopes that the expansion will accommodate expected high customer demand for delivering new midscale bioreactor capacity. Lonza is currently the largest tenant at Pease International. Construction for the project is set to begin this spring.
New Products
THE LOLLIPOP TREE, a specialty food manufacturer located in Portsmouth, announces the addition of Honey Bourbon Barbecue Grilling & Glazing Sauce and Parmesan Pizza Monkey Bread Mix to its specialty food line. The company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Monkey Bread to HEIFER PROJECT INTERNATIONAL, an organization working to end global hunger.
Real Estate
THE KANE COMPANY in Portsmouth announced the completion of three recent transactions involving BRADY SULLIVAN, GLOBAL RELIEF TECHNOLOGIES, and SHORELINE CONSTRUCTION. A 210,000 square foot industrial and office property was brokered to Brady Sullivan of Manchester, an investment firm that plans on making renovations. Global Relief Technologies is subleasing an 8,000 square foot office building from Ingersoll- Rand at the Pease Tradeport. Finally, a 11,500 square foot industrial building was brokered to Shoreline Construction of Eliot, Maine. Shoreline will use the space to increase its production facilities.
