GZA GEOENVIRONMENTAL INC., one of the area's leading environmental and geotechnical consulting firms, has opened a new office located at 155 Fleet St. in downtown Portsmouth.

The Portsmouth location was selected to accommodate GZA's growing projects in the New Hampshire Seacoast area, southern Maine and Boston's North Shore. Gary R. McAllister, P.E., has been named to lead the Portsmouth office. McAllister is a senior project manager and geotechnical engineer for GZA with 17 years of experience, including four years leading a successful Portsmouth based geotechnical practice.

Founded in 1964, GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is a multi-disciplined firm providing environmental consulting, geotechnical and civil engineering, environmental remediation contracting, regulatory compliance, litigation support, air quality, solid waste services, specialty construction and site development services. GZA maintains corporate offices at One Edgewater Drive, Norwood, Mass. The firm has approximately 500 employees and operates 22 offices, in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes regions of the United States.

LYONS LAW OFFICES, P.A. has named DARCI CREATIVE LLC as agency of record. The agency launched a new television and Internet marketing campaign last month.

The television campaign will air on a variety of cable networks including TNT, USA, ESPN and the History Channel. It will also feature on the Friday night rotation of the Boston Red Sox games beginning on April 6.

Awards

Portsmouth-based RUMBLETREE, has been awarded the Gold Davey Award for its work with the state.

Rumbletree's print campaign featuring New Hampshire's authentic qualities such as its lakes, mountains, maple sugar houses and country stores, was honored for its creativity as well as its effectiveness.

With more than 3,500 entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the Davey Awards honors the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies, and companies. Rumbletree is based in Portsmouth.

Recognition

SHAW'S SUPERMARKETS participated in the annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program and raised more than $42,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in New Hampshire.

Thanks to the generosity of Shaw's and other such establishments, MDA is able to provide patient and community service programs for more than 700 children and adults throughout New Hampshire. Muscular Dystrophy Association funds a highly comprehensive program of direct patient care plus a dynamic network of worldwide research addressing 43 neuromuscular disease entities. Families are able to benefit from services such as monthly support groups and clinics, assistance in the purchase of wheelchair and leg braces, communication devices and a summer camp program for children.

CRYSTALVISION, a Portsmouth based Web development and e-marketing firm, has received several honors at the recent New Hampshire Internet Awards. Awards were presented to the top scoring Web sites in 17 different categories. CrystalVision was awarded "Best Health Care Site" for the RiverWoods at Exeter Web site, www.riverwoodsrc.org, and also received honorable mention in the "Best Education Site" for the RMC Research Corporation's Center On Instruction web site, www.centeroninstruction.org, and "Best Small Retail Site" for the Vin Fiz Web site, www.drinkvinfiz.com.

The NHIA is an annual celebration of the talent and creativity of New Hampshire Web designers, professionals and hobbyists alike. New Hampshire Business Review (NHBR.com) hosted the event, which was created to recognize online excellence in New Hampshire.

SEACOAST HARLEY-DAVIDSON of North Hampton has received the special category award "Best Exterior" for 2007 in Dealernews magazine Top 100 Dealer Awards. One hundred powersport industry dealerships across North America are recognized by Dealernews for their creative achievements in store design, marketing and merchandising. This marks the 11th time that Seacoast Harley-Davidson has been recognized by the magazine as a Top 100 Dealer and the second time for the "Best Exterior" honor.

Ten realtors from THE MASIELLO GROUP's Hampton and Portsmouth offices have been honored and inducted into the company's Achievement Circles by CEO Christopher J. Masiello and President Edward Buczynski.

Each sold from $3.25 million to over $8 million in real estate — either individually or as a two-person team.

Named to the Legend's Circle for closing more than $8 million in sales was Lauren Stone, who ranked first in both closed dollar volume and transactions for the Hampton office and first company wide for closed dollar volume.

Inducted into the President's Circle for achieving $4.5 - $7.99 million in sales were Hampton associates Diane Wasson and Tracy Emerick-Boies. Portsmouth associates named to the Circle were Joan Friel, Nathaniel Leach and Joan Goodrich.

Named to the Leadership Circle for achieving $3.25 - $4.49 million in sales were Hampton associates Kim Brown and Pam Cameron and Portsmouth associates Janet Richards and Peter Russell.

Wendy Radwan, who works in the Portsmouth office of FRED C. CHURCH INSURANCE, has earned the official designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI). The designation indicates an in-depth understanding of insurance coverages, marketing concepts, selling techniques, and agency and sales management.

Radwan has been a commercial insurance account representative in the Portsmouth office since 2003.

Linda Robinson and Christine Prunier have opened MARGAUX: BISTRO POPULAIRE at 404 Main St. in South Berwick, Maine. The restaurant is open Tuesday-Saturday, from 5:30 p.m., and serves French-inspired bistro food.

The two women are known for operating the Big Night in Dover and Cafe Brio in South Berwick.

CIRCUS MEDIA of Portsmouth has launched a new Web site for Maine-based retailer The Motorcycle Shop.

The site, viewable at www.got-bike.com, is inspired by the vintage motorcycles that adorn the sales floor of the Freeport retail and repair space.

Founded in May 2002, Circus Media has evolved into a six-person creative and new media design studio with offices in Portsmouth.

Life care community RIVERWOODS AT EXETER has added a new staff member to its senior leadership team. Cathleen Toomey has joined the nonprofit organization as director of marketing, and will be responsible for managing the branding efforts for RiverWoods.

Toomey brings more than 25 years of marketing, public relations and advertising to the new position. She has worked for consumer brands such as Lender's Bagels, Timberland, and most recently, several years as vice president of communications for Stonyfield Farm. In addition, Toomey has not-for-profit experience handling public relations, marketing and events at University of New Hampshire and Babson College, in Wellesley, Mass. She lives in Exeter and is a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run.

NORTHEAST CREDIT UNION has announced that Meghan Noone has joined the organization as sales and service manager for its new Lee branch. She has 10 years experience working in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Northeast, she was branch manager and assistant vice president of The First National Bank of Ipswich at their Portsmouth branch.

"Her experience managing traditional branch offices, as well as her involvement in the local community will be a great benefit to Northeast Credit Union members. ERA THE MASIELLO GROUP, the largest real estate organization in New Hampshire, has opened a new office in Exeter. Located at 137 Portsmouth Ave., the office is managed by Lori Breard-Weeden, and will be staffed by 16 full-time realtors.

Lisa L. Dale, CFP, senior financial adviser with WADDELL & REED in Portsmouth, has been named a recipient of the firm's Crest Award, a top honor for its financial advisers. The awards were presented this year to only 148 of Waddell & Reed's financial advisers, out of its national network of more than 2,250. Presented annually, the Crest Awards are bestowed to the firm's most productive financial advisers based on an analysis of investment, insurance and financial planning sales generated by the adviser.

Dale will be honored at a conference in Beijing, China from June 11 to 20, 2007. This is the eighth time that she has earned the honor.

SEACOAST HOSPICE in Exeter has announced that Peter Dicks has been named medical director of Seacoast Hospice, a New Hampshire based provider of end-of-life care. Dicks most recently served as acting medical director and was the Seacoast Hospice associate medical director between 2000 and 2006.

Earlier this year he became certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, one of only 2800 nationwide, by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a certified medical director.

He will oversee medical services for Seacoast Hospice and will continue to work closely with local physicians and their patients who have advanced or terminal illness.

PORTFOLIO KITCHEN & BATH has announced the addition of James Garland to its design and sales staff. He brings 20 years of residential cabinet design expertise to the Stratham firm. He has extensive experience working with homeowners, builders, and architects, and provides comprehensive design assistance for kitchens, baths, pantries, entertainment centers, and all other areas calling for built-in cabinetry throughout the home. Jim has been active in the National Kitchen and Bath Association, and has written a number of articles on kitchen and bath planning for Northwest Renovation Magazine. Having recently relocated from Oregon with his wife, Merren, Jim lives in Newmarket. "I've been away a long time," said the Seacoast native, "And it is great to be home."

Kenneth C. Knowles, P.E., a site development project manager from Exeter, has joined the engineering staff at APPLEDORE ENGINEERING INC. in Porstmouth. He received his BSCE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass., in 1998 and has been working in the civil engineering field for the past 10 years.

Knowles is a licensed professional engineer in Massachusetts and Maine. He is currently a member of the Exeter Planning Board.

ENVIROVANTAGE INC. of Epping, a leader in the safe handling of hazardous materials at building and historic reconstruction sites, announced that Scott Knightly, the firm's founder and president, has been appointed to the board of directors of the National Demolition Association. Knightly will chair the association's Environmental Impact Committee.

THE GREATER YORK REGION CHAMBER OF COMMERCE is pleased to launch its first edition of the Building Trades & Services Directory. This directory will be a resource for residents to find a variety of tradespeople and services available in southern Maine. It will be mailed to residents of Kittery, South Berwick, Berwick, North Berwick, Eliot, York and Ogunquit in July.

"The need for this resource directory has been apparent for some time," said Cathy Goodwin, president and chief executive officer of the chamber. "The chamber's research shows that a specialized guide that promotes our local trades men and women, and our services industry such as our hardware and lumber stores, financial institutions, Realtors, accountants, lawyers, carpenters and plumbers "" everyone who supports our growing communities "" will be beneficial for many local small businesses."

The base cost of inclusion in the resource guide is $250 and includes chamber membership. Businesses which join the chamber to participate in the guide will receive:
