BLACK DAWG FRANCHISE GROUP LLC of Exeter announced the sale of Black Dawg Sealcoat Franchise to THE KYSPEN GROUP LLC. The Kyspen Group is owned and operated by KIMBERLY O’CONNOR. Black Dawg specializes in paving, sealing and hot rubber crack filling. O’Connor is a former flight attendant with Delta Air Lines and has also held positions in real estate, business and marketing.

BILL MURPHY, co-owner of MURPHY & MURPHY REAL ESTATE in Exeter along with his wife, DOT, announces that he has been appointed the New Hampshire representative of SOURCENET FINANCIAL CORPORATION, New England’s leading supplier of tenancy-in-common (TIC) investment properties. “TIC’s have gained rapid popularity in the commercial real estate industry since the IRS ruled in 2002 that TIC possession met the ownership requirements to qualify for a 1031 Exchange,” said Murphy. “In a TIC, each individual owner holds an undivided fractional interest in the property. When a TIC is purchased, a deed is issued and recorded describing the fractional interest owned in the real estate. P. GAGNON & SONS INC. of South Berwick, Maine, announced that they have acquired DAVIS OIL SERVICE of Eliot, Maine. Davis Oil has been in business for 76 years. Mark Gagnon, president of P. Gagnon & Son Inc. said the Davis office on Main Street in South Eliot will remain open. P. Gagnon & Sons Inc. was established in 1904 and provides home heating oil and propane to Maine and southern New Hampshire. They also sell furnaces and heaters, and provide a 24 hour service department.

RIVERRUN BOOK STORE is partnered with BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS to help raise funds for children of the Seacoast. During August and September a percentage of proceeds from sales at the bookstore will be donated to this local nonprofit.

DEB ANTHONY, executive director of the nonprofit, stated: “We are so pleased with this partnership. We hope many of our matches will visit RiverRun Bookstore and support this great local business. We also hope to encourage our matches to share reading this summer as an ongoing activity. This is a perfect partnership for our agency.” RiverRun Bookstore is located at 7 Commercial Alley in Portsmouth.

THE BUCKHORN FAMILY RESTAURANT at the Greenland TravelCenters of America (TA) location at 108 Ocean Drive is offering a new “Spice of Life Buffet.” “Professional drivers and other customers have told us that road fare can become ordinary and monotonous at times, and they crave something tempting and different,” said PAUL HUCKELBERRY, vice president of restaurants, TA. “So we listened and created more than 300 new recipes to satisfy their appetites at breakfast, lunch and dinner.” Dinner entrees include, Asian honey pork loin, blackened Cajun ribs, stuffed bell peppers, pork chops and baked apples, smoked sausage and sauerkraut. The restaurant also features a carving station for roast beef, turkey or ham. “Although the selections are different every day, one thing never varies,” said Arthur Gilman, Greenland restaurant manager. “Our buffet staff is trained to continually focus on keeping the buffet fresh and stocked, ensuring variety and quality for our customers.”

The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest, largest and most prestigious advertising awards competition, with a record 3,900 entries submitted from every state in the country and multiple foreign countries. As AUTOWORKS, INC. celebrates its 30th year in business, president STEPHEN KOSACZ announced that once again the Maine chapter of the American Automobile Association (AAA) has judged Autoworks the Best AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility in Maine. Since 1995, when AAA started the award recognition program, Autoworks has captured the coveted top position four other times. Kosacz, who started Autoworks, Inc. in 1976, said,“You have several bosses – the clients, the staff, the government, and the vendors. If you don’t keep all four happy, you are out of business.”

NORTHEAST CREDIT UNION (NECU) announced it has won CUDL’s (Credit Union Direct Corporation’s) 2006 Choice Award. Northeast Credit Union received this award based on its success in advancing its auto lending program through CUDL - the nation’s largest point-of-sale and indirect lending network for credit unions. Bruce Croteau, Northeast Credit Union’s vice president of lending, was presented with the award during CUDL’s Annual Auto Lending Symposium held in Las Vegas. “Northeast Credit Union is honored to receive this award,” said Croteau. “Participating in the CUDL program enables us to offer our members the convenience of fast loan processing, without having to visit one of our branches. With applications approved in three minutes or less, members are able to obtain the same low auto loan rate they expect to get from Northeast Credit Union at a participating CUDL dealership, saving them time and money. Events

The PORTSMOUTH ROTARY held its 13TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT on June 19 at the Ledges Golf Course in York, Maine. With a record attendance of 148 players, Rotary Golf Chairman DAVID HODGDON said the one-day event raised more than $40,000 in proceeds. Portsmouth Rotary would like to thank its sponsors, donors and volunteers for making the event a huge success for Rotary and the community. Hodgdon also said this year’s funds will be going to the Jeremy Alex Fund, which will be supporting the Community Diversion Program, which helps kids at risk.

The 17TH ANNUAL BILLY CHEVERIE MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT was held on Monday, June 5, at the Wentworth By The Sea Country Club. With the help of Tournament sponsors, the Cheverie family, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital, this year’s tournament raised $85,000. More than $1 million has been raised since the Tournament’s inception. Proceeds of this year’s tournament will benefit Families First Health & Support Center, Cross Roads, Seacoast Big Brother/Big Sister Agency, Betty’s Dream, A Safe Place, American Heart Association, Salvation Army, Billy Cheverie Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the N.H. Breast Cancer Coalition. The following students were recipients of this year’s $1,000 Billy Cheverie Memorial Scholarships:
